### Dell — Storage Engineering
As the youngest engineer on Dell's storage engineering team, oversaw performance
evaluations of Storage Area Networks (SANs) across multiple UNIX variants — a
large resource pool used to stress-test the systems Dell sold. Before the
"cloud" existed, wrote software that managed racks of application servers across
HP-UX, AIX, Solaris, SunOS, and Linux to tune and optimize Dell's products in
real-world environments.

### Texas A&M University — College of Liberal Arts
Worked on a content management system for the College of Liberal Arts. Using UML
and Python, built organizational models to help the enterprise organize its 12
departments, 6 centers, and 5 institutions.

### Advent GX — The Innovation Underground
Partnered with Advent GX (Bryan, TX) to launch The Innovation Underground, a
local business incubator helping engineers and innovators commercialize their
technologies.

### Independent Consultant (2007 – present)
Began independent work in 2007. Engagements have included partnerships with
**MIT**, the **NBA**, **Discover**, **TM Advertising**, and **Texas A&M
University**.

## Endeavors (/endeavors.html)

Projects Cody helped start that became movements.

- **The Creative Space (2007):** A coworking facility for independent workers,
  freelancers, telecommuters, and creatives in Bryan, TX. Recognized as the
  second coworking space in North America.
- **Hashtags (2007):** Built a platform to centralize topical conversations
  using the `#` symbol borrowed from IRC — predating Twitter's adoption of
  hashtags. Tracked trending discussions and movements (e.g., #sdfire, the
  Iranian elections).
- **Kinky Friedman Campaign (2007):** Supported Kinky Friedman's populist
  gubernatorial campaign, building blog sites and collecting 13,000+ petition
  signatures across East Texas to place Friedman on the ballot.
- **BarCamp:** Brought the autonomous un-conference to Bryan, TX after
  discovering it in Palo Alto.
- **BIL (and TED):** A global un-conference started by Cody, Todd Huffman, and
  Bill Erickson. Over nine years it ran across 33 cities in 7 countries, uniting
  5,000+ attendees through free, inclusive events.
- **Rock the Republic:** A 3-day, 12-venue, 120-artist event created with eight
  friends and coordinated by 110 volunteers, bringing year-round cultural
  programming to Bryan / College Station.
- **Grand Stafford Theater:** A 100-year-old historic opera house renovated over
  five months in downtown Bryan. Reopened to host performers including Asleep at
  the Wheel, Kinky Friedman, and Flyleaf; now the region's foremost cultural
  venue.
